A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring a nutrient analysis of school menus; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 124D.111, subdivision 2.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 124D.111, subdivision 2, is amended to
read:

nonpublic school, or other participant in the national school lunch program shall apply to
the department for this payment on forms provided by the department.

(b) School districts and schools that participate in the National School Lunch
Program using a food-based menu planning approach and have 1,000 or more enrolled
students must annually conduct a nutrient analysis of their school menus using United
States Department of Agriculture approved software. The nutrient analysis must be based
on one week of menus that meet National School Lunch Program requirements and are
planned for students who are eligible to receive one meal per day. Districts and schools
must conduct a separate nutrient analysis for each school or grade grouping having
different menus.
