A bill for an act
relating to education; establishing crisis intervention team training for school
liaison officers; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM TRAINING
FOR SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICERS.

new text begin $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of education in
fiscal year 2011 for crisis intervention team training for school liaison officers. The
commissioner, in consultation with state and local crisis intervention experts, shall
establish training guidelines and criteria for awarding grants to interested schools, school
districts, and charter schools on a first-come, first-served basis. Training guidelines
must promote local collaboration among school officials, public safety professionals,
community mental health and emergency medicine providers, and members of the public.
The commissioner may use up to 2.5 percent of this appropriation for the costs of
administering this training program.
