A bill for an act
relating to game and fish; modifying legal firearms to take turkey; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 97B.722.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 97B.722, is amended to read:
(a) While afield hunting turkeys, licensees may not have in possession or control:
(1) any firearm that is not a legal firearm as defined in paragraph (c); or
(2) any bow and arrow except those defined as legal for taking turkeys in rules adopted
by the commissioner.
(b) Paragraph (a) does not apply to a person carrying a handgun in compliance with
section 624.714.
(c) For hunting turkeys, "legal firearm" means a shotgun or muzzleloading shotgun 10
gauge or smaller using fine shot size No. 4 or smaller diameter shot.
