A bill for an act
relating to veterans; broadening eligibility for burial in a county "soldiers' rest"
cemetery; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 375.37.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 375.37, is amended to read:


375.37 "SOLDIERS' REST" USED ONLY FOR VETERANS AND SPOUSES.

exclusively for the interment of deceased veterans, as defined in section 197.447, and
spouses of veteransnew text begin , who are residents of the designating county at the time of death,new text end

new text begin (b) The county board shall establish the reasonable-cost price of all burial lots within
the designated soldiers' rest. A deceased person otherwise entitled to be interred there,
except that the person was not a resident of the designating county at the time of death,
is entitled to be interned in the soldiers' rest if the reasonable-cost price is paid to the
designating county for that purpose.
