A bill for an act
relating to education; St. Croix River Education
District staff development grant; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin STAFF DEVELOPMENT GRANT.

new text begin The commissioner of education shall award a grant to the St.
Croix River Education District for the purpose of providing
staff development and on-site assistance to Minnesota district
and charter public schools. The focus of this training will be
to assist schools interested in implementing a response to
intervention model to identify children with learning
disabilities as provided in the Individuals with Disabilities
Education and Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEIA). The training and
assistance may also address how IDEIA and No Child Left Behind
federal law can be integrated. The St. Croix River Education
District shall collaborate with the University of Minnesota and
Special School District No. 1, Minneapolis, to provide the staff
development and on-site assistance.
