A bill for an act
relating to game and fish; allowing hunting of coyotes from aircraft and
snowmobiles; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 97B.055, by adding
subdivisions.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 97B.055, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

In addition to any permits issued
under subdivision 4, the commissioner shall issue special permits, without a fee, for
taking coyotes from an aircraft to control coyote populations for the purpose of protecting
livestock, domesticated animals, crops, and human life as provided under United States
Code, title 16, section 742j-1. The commissioner may, by rule, designate areas where
coyotes may be taken by aircraft, limit the number of persons that may receive a permit,
and establish a bag limit for coyotes taken from an aircraft if necessary to prevent
overharvest. If necessary to limit the number of hunters, the commissioner shall establish
a method, including a drawing, to impartially select hunters for a permit.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 97B.055, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

a firearm from a stationary snowmobile.
