A bill for an act
 relating to transportation; providing an annual appropriation for the small cities
assistance account; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 162.145, subdivision
2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 162.145, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Small cities assistance accountnew text begin ; appropriationnew text end .

new text begin (a) new text end A small cities assistance
account is created in the special revenue fund. The account consists of funds as provided
deleted text begin by lawdeleted text end new text begin under paragraph (b)new text end , and any other money donated, allotted, transferred, or otherwise
provided to the account. Money in the account may only be expended as provided under
this section.

new text begin (b) On July 1 each year, the commissioner of management and budget must transfer
$25,000,000 from the general fund to the small cities assistance account under paragraph
(a). Money in the account is annually appropriated to the commissioner for distribution by
the commissioner of revenue under subdivisions 3 and 4.
