A bill for an act
relating to game and fish; providing for the issuance of free angling and hunting
licenses to residents who have served outside the United States as a member of
the National Guard or a reserve component; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006,
section 97A.441, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 97A.441, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Angling; taking small game and deer; National Guard and reserves.

new text begin A person authorized to issue licenses must issue, without a fee, licenses to take fish
by angling, to take small game, and to take deer to a resident who has served at any
time during the past 24 months in federal active service, as defined in section 190.05,
subdivision 5c, outside the United States as a member of the National Guard or other
reserve component of the United States armed forces. Eligibility for a license to take deer
under this subdivision is limited to one license per resident.
