A bill for an act
relating to state government; enhancing utilization of Minnesota Milestones;
requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MINNESOTA MILESTONES.

new text begin The commissioners of finance and administration shall convene a work group to
develop recommendations regarding the Minnesota Milestones indicators and related
activities. The work group must include state agency representatives, including staff
from the Office of Demography and the state economist, and community representatives
knowledgeable about public sector outcome measurement.

new text begin The work group shall develop recommendations regarding ways to enhance
utilization of the indicators in the legislative process and state planning and program
administration. The work group shall also make recommendations regarding establishment
of an ongoing oversight structure for Minnesota Milestones that would include the
timing of release of the report, entities to prepare and disseminate the report, and any
resources necessary to carry out its recommendations. The work group shall also make
recommendations regarding the relationship to and potential coordination of Minnesota
Milestones with other indicator projects in the private or public sector.

new text begin The commissioners shall report to the Legislative Commission on Planning and
Fiscal Policy by November 1, 2007.
