A bill for an act
relating to criminal justice; appropriating money for training emergency responders.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EMERGENCY RESPONDERS; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2018 and $....... in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from the general
fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant or grants to a person or entity to train
law enforcement, firefighters, and EMTs to best utilize applications for cell phones and
mobile electronic devices to better respond to emergency encounters and crisis situations
with individuals who have an autism spectrum disorder or related disability, or other
nonvisible health issue, and to acquire these applications. By February 15, 2020, the
commissioner shall report to the chairs and ranking minority members of the senate and
house of representatives committees having jurisdiction over criminal justice policy and
funding on how this appropriation was spent and what results were achieved.
