A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for the community crime prevention
program grants.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION GRANT PROGRAM;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of public safety for community crime prevention
program grants under Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.296. Of these amounts, $300,000
each year shall be administered pursuant to paragraph (b).

new text begin (b) In evaluating applications and awarding grants, the commissioner shall give priority
to grant applications for crime prevention projects for public housing high rises that are
staffed by resident volunteers.
