A bill for an act
relating to state government; providing incentives for
employee energy savings suggestions; proposing coding
for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 16C.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [16C.143] EMPLOYEE SUGGESTIONS ON ENERGY
SAVINGS.

new text begin If the commissioner of administration or another state
agency, or a Minnesota state college or university, implements
an employee's suggestion on a method to conserve energy that
results in an operation and maintenance cost savings as defined
in section 16C.144, the employee shall be rewarded with an
amount equivalent to half the amount saved by the agency, state
college, or university in the following fiscal year. The reward
must be funded from amounts appropriated to the agency, state
college, or university that benefited from the cost savings.
