  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             parallel block schedule pilot project in independent 
  1.4             school district No. 621, Mounds View. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PARALLEL BLOCK SCHEDULE; MOUNDS VIEW.] 
  1.7      $224,000 in fiscal year 2002 is appropriated from the 
  1.8   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.9   learning for a grant to independent school district No. 621, 
  1.10  Mounds View, for a pilot project to establish a parallel block 
  1.11  schedule strategy in grades 1 through 3 to efficiently arrange 
  1.12  instructional time and reduce the size of instructional groups 
  1.13  to a teacher to student ratio of 1 to 15.  Independent school 
  1.14  district No. 621, Mounds View, must establish three pilot sites 
  1.15  in the school district.  Mounds View must report the results of 
  1.16  the pilot project to the department of children, families, and 
  1.17  learning for dissemination to other school districts throughout 
  1.18  the state.
