A bill for an act
relating to education finance; allowing Independent School District No. 857,
Lewiston, to collect special education revenue for hired special education
teachers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 122A.06, subdivision 2, and 125A.76,
subdivision 1, for fiscal year 2009 only, Independent School District No. 857, Lewiston,
may include the salary costs of two teachers who have completed a training program in
special education and provided special education services during the 2008-2009 school
year for the purposes of calculating special education revenue under Minnesota Statutes,
sections 125A.76 and 125A.79. This section is only effective if these teachers obtain a full
special education license before June 1, 2009.
