A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for county attorneys' offices to
provide juvenile protection legal services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
human services for grants to county attorneys' offices for the purpose of funding juvenile
protection legal services provided by county attorneys' offices to social services agencies.
The commissioner of human services shall distribute the money equitably based on the
number of children residing in each county, the total number of child maltreatment reports
in each county, and the number of open child protection case management cases in each
county, using data from the previous calendar year. This amount is added to the base
appropriation for this purpose, and the sum is available until expended.
