  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; allowing the retention of 
  1.3             probation fees; appropriating money for county 
  1.4             probation reimbursement; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             2000, section 241.272, subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 241.272, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [USE OF FEES.] Excluding correctional fees 
  1.10  collected from offenders supervised by department agents under 
  1.11  the authority of section 244.19, subdivision 1, paragraph (a), 
  1.12  clause (3), all correctional fees collected under this section 
  1.13  go to the general fund.  Fees collected by agents under the 
  1.14  authority of section 244.19, subdivision 1, paragraph (a), 
  1.15  clause (3), shall go to the county treasurer in the county where 
  1.16  supervision is provided.  These fees may only be used in 
  1.17  accordance with section 244.18, subdivision 6. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.19     $1,628,000 for fiscal year ending June 30, 2002, and 
  1.20  $2,142,000 for fiscal year ending June 30, 2003, are 
  1.21  appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 
  1.22  corrections for county probation officer reimbursements. 
  1.23     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.24     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2001.
