A bill for an act
relating to employment; modifying prevailing wage provisions; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 177.42, subdivision 6.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 177.42, subdivision 6, is amended to read:


Subd. 6.

Prevailing wage rate.

"Prevailing wage rate" means the hourly basic rate
of pay plus the contribution for health and welfare benefits, vacation benefits, pension
benefits, and any other economic benefitnew text begin , based on current union wage scalesnew text end paid to

includes, for the purposes of section 177.44, rental rates for truck hire paid to those who
own and operate the truck. The prevailing wage rate may not be less than a reasonable

of representatives and senate with jurisdiction over labor issues by March 1 of each
odd-numbered year on the comparison between compensation and annual increases in
compensation paid to workers covered under this section and compensation and annual
increases in compensation of comparable state employees.
