  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; changing the MFIP cash 
  1.3             grant for child only cases; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1998, section 256J.24, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 256J.24, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5b.  [CASH PORTION OF MFIP TRANSITIONAL STANDARD.] (a)
  1.10  The cash portion of the MFIP transitional standard for child 
  1.11  only cases shall be the AFDC cash portion for child only cases 
  1.12  prior to January 1, 1998, until there is an increase in the cash 
  1.13  portion of the MFIP transitional standard. 
  1.14     (b) The commissioner may not adjust the cash portion in 
  1.15  paragraph (a) by replacing it with a food stamp amount.
