A bill for an act
relating to health; permitting smoking of certain types of tobacco in limited
places; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 144.4167, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 144.4167, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Sections 144.414 to 144.417 do not prohibit the smoking
of shisha tobacco products in any hookah bar establishment. For purposes of this section,
a shisha tobacco product must have a nicotine content of no more than 0.1 percent and a
tar content of no more than 0.2 percent. A hookah bar establishment operating under this
exception may not serve liquor but may serve food and nonalcoholic beverages.
