A bill for an act
relating to human services; establishing an MFIP advisory task force.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The commissioner of human services shall establish a statewide MFIP advisory task
force, including current and former MFIP participants, advocacy organizations, counties,
workforce development centers, and members of the house of representatives and senate.
The speaker of the house shall appoint two members of the house of representatives
to the advisory task force and the president of the senate shall appoint two members
of the senate to the advisory task force. The advisory task force shall meet at least
three times and provide advice on MFIP reform proposals, including issues related to
education, vocational education, child care assistance policies, MFIP recidivism, and
welfare programs in other states. The commissioner shall seek recommendations from
the advisory task force in developing future MFIP reform proposals. The commissioner
shall make recommendations to the legislature by January 31, 2008. Minnesota Statutes,
section 15.059, subdivision 6, governs the MFIP advisory task force, except that members
do not receive expense reimbursement.
