relating to education; establishing categorical aid for technology and library
media; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 125B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [125B.30] TECHNOLOGY AND LIBRARY MEDIA AID.

new text begin (a) A school district is eligible for technology and library media aid equal to the
number of pupils in adjusted average daily membership in the current year times $100 for
fiscal year 2008 and $200 for fiscal year 2009 and later.

new text begin (b) The technology and library media aid may be used only for the following:

new text begin (1) integrated technology literacy skills in prekindergarten through grade 12
curriculum;
new text end

new text begin (2) best practices for online testing and accountability and best teaching practices;
new text end

new text begin (3) rigorous academic courses such as Advanced Placement, International
Baccalaureate, foreign languages, and college courses regardless of geographic location;

new text begin (4) online testing and assessment accountability;
new text end

new text begin (5) online data reporting;
new text end

new text begin (6) individualized, interactive instruction of diverse students in the regular classroom
and other educational settings;

new text begin (7) information and technology literacy standards that require students to be
discriminating users of information who can effectively locate, use, and communicate
information to demonstrate learning and to develop the skills needed for lifelong learning;
and
