  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; increasing general community 
  1.3             education revenue; appropriating money; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 124D.20, subdivision 
  1.5             3. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 124D.20, 
  1.8   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3.  [GENERAL COMMUNITY EDUCATION REVENUE.] The 
  1.10  general community education revenue for a district equals $5.95 
  1.11  $6.95 times the greater of 1,335 or the population of the 
  1.12  district.  The population of the district is determined 
  1.13  according to section 275.14.  
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.15     Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND 
  1.16  LEARNING.] The sums indicated in this section are appropriated 
  1.17  from the general fund to the department of children, families, 
  1.18  and learning for the fiscal years designated. 
  1.19     Subd. 2.  [COMMUNITY EDUCATION AID.] For community 
  1.20  education aid according to Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.20: 
  1.21       $18,736,000     .....     2000 
  1.22       $19,296,000     .....     2001 
  1.23     The 2000 appropriation includes $161,000 for 1999 and 
  1.24  $16,862,000 for 2000. 
  1.25     The 2001 appropriation includes $1,874,000 for 2000 and 
  2.1   $19,296,000 for 2001. 
  2.2      Any balance in the first year does not cancel but is 
  2.3   available in the second year.
