  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for elementary 
  1.3             classroom Web site grants; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM WEB SITE GRANTS.] 
  1.6      The commissioner of children, families, and learning shall 
  1.7   award elementary classroom Web site grants to school districts.  
  1.8   Grant proceeds must be used for the development of elementary 
  1.9   classroom-level Web sites that are interactive for parents and 
  1.10  students.  Districts may use grant proceeds to pay for 
  1.11  technicians to set up space for the sites, to maintain active 
  1.12  links from school Web sites to the classroom sites, and for any 
  1.13  other costs necessary for creating and maintaining the 
  1.14  classroom-level Web sites.  School districts must submit an 
  1.15  application in the form and manner prescribed by the 
  1.16  commissioner. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.18     The following sum is appropriated in the fiscal year 
  1.19  indicated from the general fund to the department of children, 
  1.20  families, and learning for elementary classroom Web site grants:
