A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for an animal care campus.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ST. PAUL; ANIMAL CARE CAMPUS.

new text begin $15,000,000 in fiscal year 2024 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to Animal Humane Society, a nonprofit
organization, to design, construct, engineer, furnish, and equip a new animal care campus
in the city of St. Paul that includes a veterinary care center and teaching hospital, shelter
space for up to 450 companion animals, a rehabilitation center, space to support large-scale
humane investigations cases, education and training center, pet food pantry, volunteer center,
agility yard, and amphitheaters for events. This is a onetime appropriation and is available
until December 31, 2028.
