  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to community education; appropriating money 
  1.3             for the Eritrean community center of Minnesota. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [ERITREAN COMMUNITY CENTER OF MINNESOTA; 
  1.6   APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $550,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2002 from the 
  1.8   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.9   learning for a grant to the Eritrean community center of 
  1.10  Minnesota for acquisition of a community center that would 
  1.11  provide the following services:  Tigrinya and English as second 
  1.12  languages, academic tutorial services, cultural activities, day 
  1.13  care services, basic job seeking skills training, and youth and 
  1.14  family counseling.  The appropriation is available when the 
  1.15  commissioner determines that $80,000 has been committed from 
  1.16  nonstate sources.
