A bill for an act
relating to wells; permitting drilling for and installation of a vertical direct
exchange system; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
103I.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Notwithstanding section 103I.641, a licensed drill rig in the state may drill or
excavate to a maximum depth of 50 feet for the installation of a vertical direct exchange
system. A person who installs a vertical direct exchange system must adhere to
environmentally stringent manufacturer protocols and guidelines, such as those provided
by Free Source Energies. The installation must be overseen by at least one installer trained
and certified by the manufacturer.
