A bill for an act
relating to counties; authorizing counties to own and operate electric power
generation facilities; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 373.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

A county may own, construct, acquire, purchase, issue bonds and certificates of
indebtedness for, maintain, and operate any electric power generation facility, or any
portion of an electric power generation facility, within its corporate limits, and may sell
the output from that facility on such terms and conditions as the county board deems is in
the best interests of the public. With respect to any electric power generation facility, or
any portion of an electric power generation facility, a county may exercise the powers
granted to a municipal power agency and to a city under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 453.
