A bill for an act
relating to human services; appropriating money for correctional discharge
planning.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; DISCHARGE PLANNING.

new text begin $1,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of human
services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009, to fund discharge planning for offenders
who: (1) have a chemical dependency; (2) have a traumatic brain injury; (3) are at risk for
homelessness; or (4) have a serious and persistent mental illness defined in Minnesota
Statutes, section 245.462, subdivision 20, paragraph (c), who are pending release from a
county jail or correctional facility.
