  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             crosswalk safety awareness campaign. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $200,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of public safety for fiscal years 2000 and 2001 to 
  1.8   continue and expand the crosswalk safety awareness campaign.  Of 
  1.9   this amount, $100,000 is available in fiscal year 2000 to 
  1.10  promote public awareness among drivers and pedestrians of the 
  1.11  crosswalk safety law, by means of mass media, print materials, 
  1.12  and community involvement; and $100,000 is available in fiscal 
  1.13  year 2001 to continue to promote public awareness and to 
  1.14  increase enforcement of the crosswalk safety law.  This 
  1.15  appropriation is available until spent.
