  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to civil actions; prohibiting certain actions 
  1.3             by the state or a political subdivision against 
  1.4             firearms or ammunition manufacturers; proposing coding 
  1.5             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 604. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [604.13] [FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION.] 
  1.8      (a) The lawful design, manufacture, marketing, or sale of 
  1.9   firearms or ammunition to the public is not an unreasonably 
  1.10  dangerous activity and does not constitute a nuisance.  Neither 
  1.11  the state nor a political subdivision shall bring suit against a 
  1.12  firearms or ammunition manufacturer, trade association, or 
  1.13  dealer for damages, abatement, or injunctive relief relating to 
  1.14  the lawful design, manufacture, marketing, or sale of firearms 
  1.15  or ammunition to the public. 
  1.16     (b) This section does not prohibit the state or a political 
  1.17  subdivision from bringing an action against a firearms or 
  1.18  ammunition manufacturer or dealer for fraud or breach of 
  1.19  contract or warranty in connection with the purchase of firearms 
  1.20  or ammunition by the state or a political subdivision.
