A bill for an act
relating to education; allowing parents or guardians to designate a person to
attend a school conference; amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 13.32,
by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 13.32, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin (a) A parent or
guardian of a student may designate an individual, defined under paragraph (c), to
participate in a school conference involving the child of the parent or guardian. The parent
or guardian must provide the school with prior written consent allowing the significant
individual to participate in the conference and to receive any data on the child of the
consenting parent or guardian that is necessary and relevant to the conference discussions.
The consenting parent or guardian may withdraw consent, in writing, at any time.

data form, as sufficient to meet the requirements of this subdivision:

RECEIVE STUDENT DATA

relating to the above-named child, consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 13.32,

any time.

designated by a child's parent or guardian to attend school-related activities and
conferences.
