  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; modifying authorized 
  1.3             disbursements for the Minneapolis police relief 
  1.4             association; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.5             423B.07. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 423B.07, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      423B.07 [AUTHORIZED FUND DISBURSEMENTS.] 
  1.10     The police pension fund may be used only for the payment of:
  1.11     (1) service, disability, or dependency pensions; 
  1.12     (2) notwithstanding a contrary provision of section 69.80, 
  1.13  the salary of the secretary of the association in an amount not 
  1.14  to exceed 30 percent of the base salary of a first grade patrol 
  1.15  officer, the salary of the president of the association in an 
  1.16  amount not to exceed ten percent of the base salary of a first 
  1.17  grade patrol officer, and the salaries of the other elected 
  1.18  members of the board of trustees in an amount not to exceed 
  1.19  three units; 
  1.20     (3) expenses of officers and employees of the association 
  1.21  in connection with the protection of the fund; 
  1.22     (4) expenses of operating and maintaining the association, 
  1.23  including the administrative expenses related to the 
  1.24  administration of the insurance plan authorized in section 
  1.25  423B.08; and 
  2.1      (5) other expenses authorized by section 69.80, or other 
  2.2   applicable law. 
  2.3      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.4      Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
