A bill for an act
relating to game and fish; establishing an angling guide license requirement;
requiring rulemaking; amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, sections 97A.475,
subdivision 15; 97C.311, subdivision 1; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 97C.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97A.475, subdivision 15, is amended to
read:


Subd. 15.

Fishing guides.

new text begin (a) new text end The fee for a license to operate a charter boat and
guide anglers on Lake Superior or the St. Louis River Estuary is:

(1) for a resident, $125;

(2) for a nonresident, $400; or

(3) if another state charges a Minnesota resident a fee greater than $440 for a Lake
Superior or St. Louis River Estuary fishing guide license in that state, the nonresident fee
for a resident of that state is that greater fee.

Superior or the St. Louis River Estuary is:

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 97C.311, subdivision 1, is amended to read:


Subdivision 1.

License required.

A person may not operate a charter boat and
guide anglers on Lake Superior or the St. Louis River Estuary for compensation without

subdivision and section 97A.475, subdivision 15, "St. Louis River Estuary" means the
United States Coast Guard navigable waters of the lower St. Louis River to the Minnesota
State Highway No. 23 bridge.

River Estuary, but may not guide on other waters of the state without a valid license
