  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to emergency preparedness; appropriating 
  1.3             money for emergency communications equipment in Cook, 
  1.4             Lake, and St. Louis counties. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $198,500 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of natural resources for grants to Cook, Lake, and 
  1.9   St. Louis counties for emergency communications equipment.  Of 
  1.10  this amount: 
  1.11     (1) $105,500 is for a grant to Cook county for a 
  1.12  communications system upgrade and development of radio paths 
  1.13  along the north shore of Lake Superior; 
  1.14     (2) $47,000 is for a grant to Lake county to upgrade the 
  1.15  existing communications tower in the Two Harbors area; and 
  1.16     (3) $46,000 is for a grant to St. Louis county to enhance 
  1.17  the emergency alerting system by installing a dispatching 
  1.18  transmitter in the Crane Lake area.
