A bill for an act
relating to energy; appropriating money to establish a national solar testing and
certification laboratory.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $3,000,000 is appropriated from funds received by the Office of Energy Security
under the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to the commissioner
of commerce for a grant to the Initiative for Renewable Energy and the Environment at the
University of Minnesota at Morris to develop a solar rating and certification laboratory to
test, rate, and certify the performance of equipment and devices that utilize solar energy
for heating and cooling air and water and for generating electricity.
