  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to children; child care; creating an annual 
  1.3             bonus for accredited child care centers; appropriating 
  1.4             money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             119B.13, by adding a subdivision.  
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 119B.13, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2a.  [ACCREDITATION INCENTIVE.] A licensed child care 
  1.10  center must be paid an annual bonus of $1,000, if the center 
  1.11  holds a current early childhood development credential approved 
  1.12  by the commissioner. 
  1.13     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2001. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.15     $....... is appropriated for the fiscal biennium ending on 
  1.16  June 30, 2003, from the general fund to the commissioner of 
  1.17  children, families, and learning for child care center 
  1.18  accreditation incentives under section 1.
