  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; authorizing purchase of 
  1.3             service credit in the public employees retirement 
  1.4             association for certain military service. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PURCHASE OF SERVICE CREDIT.] 
  1.7      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 353.01, 
  1.8   subdivision 16, or any other law to the contrary, an eligible 
  1.9   person described in paragraph (b) may purchase service credit in 
  1.10  the public employees retirement association for the period 
  1.11  described in paragraph (c). 
  1.12     (b) An eligible person is a person who: 
  1.13     (1) was born on October 28, 1948; 
  1.14     (2) was first employed by the Rush City school district in 
  1.15  September 1968; 
  1.16     (3) has received service credit from the public employees 
  1.17  retirement association for a period of leave for military 
  1.18  service from April 1969 through March 1970; 
  1.19     (4) has not received service credit from the public 
  1.20  employees retirement association for a period of leave for 
  1.21  military service from April 1970 through March 1971. 
  1.22     (c) The period for service credit purchase is the 
  1.23  uncredited portion of the period from April 1970 through March 
  1.24  1971. 
  1.25     (d) An eligible person may purchase service under this 
  2.1   section by making the payment determined under Minnesota 
  2.2   Statutes, section 356.55, for the period in paragraph (c). 
  2.3      (e) The public employees retirement association may not 
  2.4   impose any additional cost on an eligible person related to 
  2.5   service credit the person has received for the period specified 
  2.6   in paragraph (b), clause (3).
