  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for 
  1.3             grants to the Metropolitan Economic Development 
  1.4             Association. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $145,000 is appropriated from the general fund in each year 
  1.8   of the biennium ending June 30, 2003, to the commissioner of 
  1.9   trade and economic development for grants to the Metropolitan 
  1.10  Economic Development Association.  $45,000 of the annual grant 
  1.11  must be used for minority business development outside the 
  1.12  seven-county metropolitan area.  $100,000 of the annual grant 
  1.13  must be used to implement the recommendations of the July 10, 
  1.14  2000, report of the governor's working group on minority 
  1.15  business development.
