relating to state government; creating a council on the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Holiday; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
10.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

COUNCIL.

new text begin The governor must appoint a 15 member Governor's Council on the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Holiday. The governor must designate one of the members as the chair of
the council. Members of the council serve one-year terms beginning July 1 each year.
Members continue to serve until successors are appointed. Members serve without
compensation. The council must coordinate the state's official activities to celebrate the
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on the third Monday in January each year.
