A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; appropriating money for Gulf oil spill assessment.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; GULF OIL SPILL ASSESSMENT.

new text begin $125,000 in fiscal year 2012 and $125,000 in fiscal year 2013 are appropriated from
the environment and natural resources trust fund to the commissioner of natural resources
in cooperation with and for agreements with the United States Geological Survey, the
University of Minnesota, and North Dakota State University to assess the impact of the
2010 BP Gulf oil spill on migratory populations of common loons and other migratory
birds in Minnesota, share the information with the public, assist with other related efforts,
and assist in leveraging any funds made available as a result of legal settlements or other
legal actions resulting from the Gulf oil spill. This appropriation is available until June 30,
2014, by which time the project must be completed and final products delivered.
