relating to civil law; providing attorney fee awards in civil actions between
private parties; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 549.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin The petitioning party in a civil action shall pay reasonable attorney fees in cases
between private parties when the court has found for the responding party or when the
case has been dismissed and the responding party has incurred fees, except where the
parties have agreed that no fees shall be awarded.
