A bill for an act
relating to historic preservation; recognizing the Coldwater Springs area as a
property eligible for traditional cultural property designation.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RECOGNITION OF COLDWATER SPRINGS AS A TRADITIONAL
CULTURAL PROPERTY.

new text begin The state recognizes the traditional, cultural, and historic importance of Coldwater
Springs in Hennepin County. The state shall work with its federal partners and the
Dakota people and other interested parties, through the state historic preservation office
and other state and local entities, to ensure that the Coldwater Springs area, currently
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is designated as a traditional cultural
property. Until the Coldwater Springs area is designated as a traditional cultural property,
state actions impacting the area shall be in compliance with actions affecting traditional
cultural properties.
