  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to taxation; authorizing the division into 
  1.3             city urban and rural service districts pursuant to 
  1.4             annexation; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.5             272.67, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 272.67, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 9.  [DIVISION INTO URBAN AND RURAL SERVICE 
  1.10  DISTRICTS.] Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivisions 2 and 
  1.11  5, in order to carry out an orderly annexation agreement entered 
  1.12  into on or after August 16, 1996, a city may divide its area 
  1.13  into urban service districts and rural service districts 
  1.14  constituting separate taxing districts for the purpose of all 
  1.15  municipal property taxes including those levied for the payment 
  1.16  of bonds and judgments and interest on them.
