A bill for an act
relating to insurance; expanding health insurance coverage for hearing aids;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 62Q.675.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 62Q.675, is amended to read:


62Q.675 HEARING AIDS; PERSONS 18 OR YOUNGERnew text begin ; CHILDREN

A health plan must cover hearing aids for individuals 18 years of age or youngernew text begin
and for children under age 26 who are covered as dependents under section 62A.302

for hearing loss that is not correctable by other covered procedures. Coverage required
under this section is limited to one hearing aid in each ear every three yearsnew text begin , except that
additional hearing aids must be covered within this three-year period, if a physician
or audiologist certifies that this is necessary due to a change in hearing

deductible, coinsurance, co-payment, or other limitation on the coverage under this section
that is not generally applicable to other coverages under the plan may be imposed.
