  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing public and 
  1.3             private sales of certain tax-forfeited lands in Cook 
  1.4             county. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND BORDERING 
  1.7   PUBLIC WATER; COOK COUNTY.] 
  1.8      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45 and 
  1.9   282.018, subdivision 1, and the public sale provisions of 
  1.10  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, Cook county may sell by private 
  1.11  sale the land bordering public water that is described in 
  1.12  paragraph (d) under the remaining provisions of Minnesota 
  1.13  Statutes, chapter 282, if acquired by the county as 
  1.14  tax-forfeited land pursuant to a land exchange by the United 
  1.15  States of America, United States Forest Service, under the 
  1.16  authority of Minnesota Statutes, section 94.344. 
  1.17     (b) The sale must be in the form approved by the attorney 
  1.18  general. 
  1.19     (c) The land to be sold by private sale must be sold for 
  1.20  the appraised value to the present United States Forest Service 
  1.21  special use permittee occupying the resort property. 
  1.22     (d) The land to be sold is located in Cook county and is 
  1.23  described as: 
  1.24     That part of Government Lots Ten (10) and Eleven (11), 
  1.25  Section 4, Township 64 North, Range 1 West, Fourth Principal 
  2.1   Meridian, county of Cook, Minnesota described as follows: 
  2.2      Beginning at the Meander Corner to Sections 3 and 4 near a 
  2.3   north shore of Hungry Jack Lake, also being near the southwest 
  2.4   corner of Lot 1, Hungry Jack Lake Summer Home Group; thence on 
  2.5   an assumed bearing of North 13 degrees 11 minutes 55 seconds 
  2.6   West 10.40 feet to said southwest corner of said Lot 1; thence 
  2.7   along the west line of said Lot 1, North 08 degrees 11 minutes 
  2.8   46 seconds West 264.00 feet to the northwest corner of Lot 1; 
  2.9   thence along the north line of Lot 1, North 64 degrees 36 
  2.10  minutes 18 seconds East 48.82 feet; thence North 288.27 feet; 
  2.11  thence South 86 degrees 24 minutes 03 seconds West 346.16 feet, 
  2.12  more or less, to the line between Government Lots 10 and 11; 
  2.13  thence North 71 degrees 28 minutes 50 seconds West 586.94 feet; 
  2.14  thence South 09 degrees 02 minutes 24 seconds West 110.00 feet; 
  2.15  thence continuing South 09 degrees 02 minutes 24 seconds West 20 
  2.16  feet, more or less, to the shore of Hungry Jack Lake; thence 
  2.17  southeast, east and northeast along the shore of Hungry Jack 
  2.18  Lake to a point lying South 13 degrees 11 minutes 55 seconds 
  2.19  East of the point of beginning; thence North 13 degrees 11 
  2.20  minutes 55 seconds West 1.0 foot, more or less, to the point of 
  2.21  beginning and there terminating. 
  2.22     Being 9.09 acres, more or less. 
  2.23     (e) The county has determined that the county's land 
  2.24  management interest would best be served if the land was 
  2.25  returned to private ownership. 
  2.26     Sec. 2.  [PUBLIC OR PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND 
  2.27  BORDERING PUBLIC WATER; COOK COUNTY.] 
  2.28     (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45 and 
  2.29  282.018, subdivision 1, and the public sale provisions of 
  2.30  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, Cook county may sell by public 
  2.31  or private sale the land bordering public water that is 
  2.32  described in paragraph (d) under the remaining provisions of 
  2.33  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, if acquired by the county as 
  2.34  tax-forfeited land pursuant to a land exchange by the United

  3.26  586.94 feet, more or less, to the line between Government Lots 
  3.27  10 and 11; thence North 86 degrees 24 minutes 03 seconds East 
  3.28  346.16 feet; thence North 362.52 feet to a point near the 
  3.29  centerline of County Road 65; thence along the approximate 
  3.30  centerline of County Road 65, North 87 degrees 45 minutes 51 
  3.31  seconds West 236.35 feet, more or less, to the line between 
  3.32  Government Lots 10 and 11; thence continuing along the 
  3.33  approximate centerline of County Road 65 the following eight (8) 
  3.34  courses and distances:

  4.14  the point of beginning, and there terminating. 
  4.15     Being 9.73 acres, more or less. 
  4.16     (e) The county has determined that the county's land 
  4.17  management interest would best be served if the land was 
  4.18  returned to private ownership. 
  4.19     Sec. 3.  [PUBLIC SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND BORDERING 
  4.20  PUBLIC WATER; COOK COUNTY.] 
  4.21     (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45 and 
  4.22  282.018, subdivision 1, Cook county may sell the land bordering 
  4.23  public water that is described in paragraph (c) under the 
  4.24  remaining provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, if 
  4.25  acquired by the county as tax-forfeited land pursuant to a land 
  4.26  exchange by the United States of America, United States Forest 
  4.27  Service, under the authority of Minnesota Statutes, section 
  4.28  94.344. 
  4.29     (b) The sale must be in the form approved by the attorney 
  4.30  general. 
  4.31     (c) The land to be sold is located in Cook county and is 
  4.32  described as: 
  4.33     (1) That part of Government Lot 6, Section 30, Township 66 
  4.34  North, Range 4 West, described as follows: 
  4.35     Commencing at the point created by the intersection of the 
  4.36  north line of Lot 6 at the west line of the public landing as 
  5.1   the point of beginning; thence South on the west line of said 
  5.2   public landing tract a distance of 100.00 feet (measured at 
  5.3   right angles); thence West parallel to the north line of Lot 6 
  5.4   for 215.00 feet; thence due North 100.00 feet to the north line 
  5.5   of Lot 6; thence East on the north line of Lot 6 a distance of 
  5.6   225.00 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning, which is 
  5.7   also described as: 
  5.8      Assuming the north boundary of said Government Lot 6 to lie 
  5.9   South 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds East and from the iron 
  5.10  pipe which is on the east end of said north boundary, then North 
  5.11  88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds West along said north boundary 
  5.12  a distance of 384.75 feet to the point of beginning; thence 
  5.13  South 16 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds West a distance of 103.06 
  5.14  feet; thence North 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds West a 
  5.15  distance of 215.00 feet; thence North 00 degrees 30 minutes 00 
  5.16  seconds East a distance of 100.00 feet to a point which lies on 
  5.17  the north boundary; thence South 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 
  5.18  seconds East along said north boundary a distance of 239.93 feet 
  5.19  back to the point of beginning; and 
  5.20     (2) That part of Government Lot 7, Section 30, Township 66 
  5.21  North, Range 4 West, described as follows: 
  5.22     Assuming the south boundary of said Government Lot Seven 
  5.23  (7) to lie South 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds East and from 
  5.24  the iron pipe which is on the east end of said south boundary 
  5.25  run North 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds West along said south 
  5.26  boundary a distance of 346.53 feet to the point of beginning; 
  5.27  thence continue North 88 degrees 30 minutes 00 seconds West 
  5.28  along said south boundary a distance of 388.17 feet; thence 
  5.29  North 03 degrees 16 minutes 16 seconds West a distance of 183.65 
  5.30  feet; thence North 23 degrees 01 minutes 18 seconds East a 
  5.31  distance of 113.59 feet; thence North 68 degrees 27 minutes 48 
  5.32  seconds East a distance of 225.73 feet; thence North 75 degrees 
  5.33  27 minutes 57 seconds East a distance of 88.62 feet; thence 
  5.34  North 82 degrees 47 minutes 51 seconds to the shore of Saganaga 
  5.35  Lake; thence southwesterly along the shoreline to a point which 
  5.36  lies on the north boundary of the county public landing; thence 
  6.1   South 38 degrees 19 minutes 12 seconds West along said northerly 
  6.2   boundary of the county public landing a distance of 90 feet, 
  6.3   more or less; thence South 57 degrees 28 minutes 36 seconds West 
  6.4   along said northerly boundary of the county public landing a 
  6.5   distance of 169.25 feet; thence South 47 degrees 38 minutes 48 
  6.6   seconds East along the southwesterly boundary of the county 
  6.7   public landing a distance of 92.42 feet back to the point of 
  6.8   beginning. 
  6.9      Together with a perpetual easement over and across all 
  6.10  roads and roadways abutting the property above described. 
  6.11     Containing 5.5 acres, more or less. 
  6.12     (d) The county has determined that the county's land 
  6.13  management interest would best be served if the lands were 
  6.14  returned to private ownership.
