  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to occupational safety and health; requiring 
  1.3             the development of a standard to reduce the incidence 
  1.4             of repetitive motion injuries; establishing a task 
  1.5             force; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 
  1.6             182.655. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 182.655, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4a.  [ERGONOMICS STANDARDS.] On or before January 1, 
  1.11  2001, the commissioner shall adopt standards for ergonomics in 
  1.12  the workplace designed to minimize the instances of injury from 
  1.13  repetitive motion. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [TASK FORCE.] 
  1.15     The commissioner of labor and industry shall establish an 
  1.16  advisory task force to make recommendations to the commissioner 
  1.17  for the adoption of the standard required by section 1.  The 
  1.18  task force shall include representatives of business and labor 
  1.19  organizations and health professionals who are knowledgeable 
  1.20  about the causes of repetitive motion injuries.
