A bill for an act
relating to community development; appropriating money for a grant to the city
of St. Paul to notify citizens of youth services available in the community.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $250,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for a grant to the city of St. Paul to create a one-stop shop
for citizens to be informed about services available to youth in the city, and in their
neighborhoods. The city must consolidate in one Web site information on services offered
by the city and nonprofit organizations, and complete an outreach program to inform
citizens of the city about services available for youth. The city may enter into a consultant
contract to meet the purposes of this appropriation.

new text begin The city of St. Paul shall evaluate the success of the project in increasing the
knowledge among citizens of youth services available to children in the city, and report its
findings to the chairs of the legislative committees with jurisdiction over early childhood
and kindergarten through grade 12 education programs. This is a onetime appropriation
and is available until expended.
