  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; appropriating money for 
  1.3             the Mississippi whitewater trail.  
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.6      $683,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of natural resources for preconstruction and 
  1.8   staffing needs for the Mississippi whitewater trail authorized 
  1.9   by Minnesota Statutes, section 85.0156.  Of this amount: 
  1.10     (1) $333,000 is available until expended to match federal 
  1.11  funding for preconstruction engineering and design activities, 
  1.12  economic and environmental analysis, and a site master plan; and 
  1.13     (2) $350,000 is for fiscal years 2002 and 2003 to provide 
  1.14  staff for project management, legal assistance, real estate 
  1.15  acquisition, and activity review.
