  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Carlton county; providing for first offer 
  1.3             of tax forfeited land within the Fond du Lac Indian 
  1.4             Reservation to the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa 
  1.5             Indians. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [FOND DU LAC RESERVATION LANDS.] 
  1.8      If a parcel of land subject to sale under Minnesota 
  1.9   Statutes, sections 282.01 to 282.13, includes lands within the 
  1.10  Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, the county auditor shall first 
  1.11  offer the land to the Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa Indians for 
  1.12  sale at the appraised value.  The costs of any survey or 
  1.13  appraisal must be added to and made a part of the appraised 
  1.14  value.  To determine whether the band wants to buy the land, the 
  1.15  county auditor shall give written notice to the band.  If the 
  1.16  band wants to buy the land, it shall submit a written offer to 
  1.17  the county auditor within two weeks after receiving the notice.  
  1.18  If the offer is for at least the appraised value, including 
  1.19  costs, the county auditor shall accept it. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day after the governing body of 
  1.22  Carlton county and its chief clerical officer timely complete 
  1.23  their compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, 
  1.24  subdivisions 2 and 3.
