  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Blue Earth county; appropriating money to 
  1.3             Blue Earth county board for study of Rapidan Dam. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION FOR STUDY OF RAPIDAN DAM.] 
  1.6      $50,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of natural resources to be disbursed as a grant to 
  1.8   the Blue Earth county board to study the feasibility of 
  1.9   repairing or removing Rapidan Dam.  The county board shall 
  1.10  perform or have performed a study of the dam to obtain 
  1.11  information on whether the dam should be repaired or removed, 
  1.12  including gathering information on the repairs needed; obtaining 
  1.13  renewable energy production incentives to accomplish the repairs 
  1.14  and future maintenance; comparing the costs to repair or to 
  1.15  remove the dam; analyzing and estimating the cost of repair or 
  1.16  replacement of the bridge on the dam, the right and left 
  1.17  downstream abutments, the retaining wall at the power station, 
  1.18  and the apron below the spillway; and gauging public sentiment 
  1.19  for repairing or removing the dam.
